버지니아주 페어팩스 카운티 경찰(FCPD)은 교통 단속 프로그램 '오퍼레이션 세이프 라이트 턴(Operation Safe Right Turn)' 첫 주를 마쳤다고 23일 밝혔다. 경찰은 카운티 곳곳에서 여러 건의 사고가 발생한 뒤 보행자 안전과 관련한 교통 위반을 집중 단속했다. 이 기간 단속장 발부와 경고는 모두 1,151건이었다. 경찰관들은 보행자 안전을 알리는 전단 약 5,600장도 주민들에게 나눠줬다. 경찰은 이 프로그램이 앞으로 몇 주간 이어질 것으로 예상된다고 밝혔다.
