9월28일 타코마 사우스스티븐스가 700블록에서 경관 총격이 발생해 성인 남성 용의자가 사망했다. 타코마 경찰(TPD)은 이날 오후 2시38분 가정폭력 신고를 받고 출동해 오후 3시9분 현장에 도착했으며, 오후 3시56분 총격이 발생했다고 밝혔다. 경관들이 응급조치했지만 타코마 소방국 도착 후 용의자는 현장에서 사망 판정을 받았다. 연루 경관은 부상이 없었으며 규정에 따라 행정휴직 조치될 예정이고, 워싱턴주 독립수사국(OII)이 수사를 주도한다.
