국세청(IRS)이 2026년 9월 18일, 연방법에 없는 가짜 'Tribal Tax Credit(원주민 부족 세액공제)'를 파는 업자들을 조심하라고 경고했다. 업자들은 'Native American Tax Credits', 'Sovereign Tribal Tax Credits' 같은 이름으로 공제를 사면 세금을 줄이거나 환급을 받을 수 있다고 홍보하지만, 이런 공제는 존재하지 않으며 신고하면 민사·형사 처벌을 받을 수 있다. 처음에 환급이 나왔더라도 허위 신고에 해당하고, 원래 세금에 가산세·이자가 붙고 벌금·징역까지 받을 수 있다고 IRS는 밝혔다.
