타코마 SNAP 사기 용의자, FBI 수배
FBI는 9월3일 타코마 거주 만지트 싱 베디(65)를 신설된 'FBI 최다수배 사기범 명단'에 새로 올렸다고 밝혔다. 베디는 2024년3월부터 2025년6월까지 자신이 운영한 타코마의 아시안 그로서리 스토어에서 SNAP(식품구매지원) 수급자의 EBT 카드로 최소 60만달러를 편취한 혐의를 받는다. 기소 후 법정 출석 조건으로 석방됐다가 여권을 반납하고 워싱턴주에 머물라는 명령을 어기고 캐나다를 거쳐 인도로 도주했다. 체포·유죄 판결로 이어지는 제보에는 최대 15만달러의 보상금이 걸려 있다. 혐의는 기소 단계이며 유죄가 확정된 것은 아니다.
