워싱턴주 오카노건-웨나치 국유림 시시 산불 진화 계속
미 산림청(USFS)은 워싱턴주 오카노건-웨나치 국유림에서 시시 산불(Sisi Fire)이 계속 타고 있으며 전면 진화 전략으로 대응 중이라고 InciWeb을 통해 밝혔다. 산림청은 8월 중순 번개 폭풍 뒤 1형(Type 1) 헬기와 레펠 대원을 투입해 초기 진화에 나섰지만, 나무 불붙음과 경사도 50% 비탈의 굴러내리는 잔해 등으로 대원들이 안전을 위해 철수했다. 나흘간 진화 작업 뒤 8월 20일 위험한 기상 조건에서 불이 크게 번졌다. 불은 현재도 비탈 위로 치닫고 불똥이 날리는 등 활발하게 번지고 있으며, 확산 가능성은 남부와 동부에서 가장 크다고 했다. 위험에 놓인 지역으로는 루서니(Lucerne), 홀든 빌리지(Holden Village), 스테헤킨(Stehekin) 등이 꼽혔다.
